You're not broken. Your environment is.

The science of epigenetics tells us that your environment and lifestyle are the biggest determinants in genetic expression. Just because you have a gene for a particular disease doesn't mean you will necessarily get that disease. In other words, genetics loads the gun but your environment pulls the trigger.

For too long, you have been taught that your body is "broken" because you hit the bad-genes jackpot, and you're incapable of healing yourself without the aid of pill-pushing doctors. Yet even then - despite the collective wisdom of our medical "experts"- healing never really happens. The best they're able to offer you is a lifetime of symptom management, and those symptoms subconsciously reinforce the notion that you must be broken and unfixable.

However, the reality is that symptoms are cues telling you that something needs to change. They're a perfectly natural response from a body struggling to cope in an altered environment. A truly broken body would be one that was incapable of manifesting symptoms at all. The fact that you are in fact exhibiting symptoms means that your body is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing -which is signal you to correct your environment so you remain healthy. You see, the body is designed to move towards vitality with an innate intelligence to self-heal when properly balanced. The challenge we face is how to make our modern form adapt to our evolutionary function.

We have evolved over time in a habitat starkly different from the one we are currently in. We were built to live in accordance with the cycles and laws of nature, not apart from it. As a result, our biology is struggling to adapt to our modern technologies, lifestyles, and cultural habits, and this keep us disconnected from our natural environment and chronically stressed. It’s my belief that this is where the root cause of most of the dis-ease process begins. Our technologies and social customs aren’t going away anytime soon, so if you’re trying to heal or are seeking to optimize your health, then it's imperative that you first learn how to optimize your environment.

As a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, I want to do away with the silly notion that our bodies are defective, and help you get to the root of your dis-ease rather than simply manage your symptoms.
